Harrow College is STEM Assured!

Congratulations to Harrow College on achieving the STEM Assured Standard in recognition of its outstanding cross-curricular practice in STEM teaching and learning. Aligning provision to what STEM industry sectors require is only the first step of developing and delivering fit for purpose STEM programmes.

Pat Carvalho, Vice Principal at Harrow College said: “Building on the development of Harrow College’s STEM strategy, the STEM team have demonstrated how cross-curricula STEM provision can enrich the learner experience and reflect the needs of STEM industry sectors. The STEM Assured framework has rigorously tested our STEM capability and provided us with a road map for further improvement.”

The external validation panel commended the college on their outstanding maths provision and the excellent opportunity that it provides for up-skilling.

Professor Sa’ad Medhat, NEF’s CEO said: "The STEM Assured Framework has ensured the currency of programmes at Harrow College and that they are delivering these programmes in tune with the needs of industry. In addition, the STEM Assured Independent Validation Panel provided Harrow College with invaluable feedback to guide its future development of innovative STEM solutions."

Mike Pilbeam, Director of EMC2 the Cloud Company and member of NEF’s Innovation Council who has been supporting Harrow College, said: “The STEM Assured assurance gives us as employers the confidence that the college’s STEM provision is fit for purpose and reflective of our needs. It provided us with the opportunity to influence curriculum development at the college. Undergoing the STEM Assured Standard clearly demonstrated the impact of, for example, the IT educational programmes on learners and on employers and ultimately the economy. I welcome the news that Harrow College is now STEM Assured.”
