Education Partnership North East Demonstrates its STEM Prowess and Secures a STEM Assured Status

Education Partnership North East (EPNE) which brings together an active partnership between Sunderland College, Hartlepool Sixth Form and Northumberland College achieves the prestigious STEM Assured accreditation by the UK STEM Foundation.

The STEM Assured framework has verified and independently validated EPNE’s progress in the provision of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and training. The Partnership’s STEM provision and capability was benchmarked by a panel of experts drawn from industry and education in six key category areas including Strategy and Planning, Collaboration and Consultation, Innovation, Design, Delivery and Impact.

Ms Ellen Thinnesen, CEO Education Partnership North East said: “We are extremely proud to have received the STEM Assured Award at Education Partnership North East. This award recognises the consistent high quality of our STEM provision and our continual investment in innovation and enhancement of our STEM curriculum across our Colleges at Sunderland, Hartlepool and Northumberland.”

Prof Sa’ad Sam Medhat, CEO of the STEM Foundation and the IKE Institute said: “EPNE has demonstrated well-developed and practiced industrial engagements that bring real-world needs and industrial settings and scenarios into the teaching and learning environment, thus strengthening students’ transferrable skills and their understanding of multi-disciplinary contexts. Congratulations to all staff, students and partners on this achievement”.
