Delighted to share that our latest article, “Innovation-led value creation and professionalising innovation: Lessons from a decade of the IKE Institute”, has now been published in Science in Parliament (Spring 2026).
The article looks at one of the United Kingdom’s biggest challenges: not a shortage of ideas or research excellence, but how we turn invention into real-world impact, stronger productivity, better jobs, more resilient public services and sustainable growth.
Drawing on lessons from the past decade at the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (IKE Institute), we argue that innovation should be treated as a professional discipline, with clear standards, competencies, assurance mechanisms and career pathways.
The piece also highlights the importance of building innovation capability that can be measured, improved and embedded across business, education and government, so that innovation becomes more repeatable and consistently creates value.
Thank you to Science in Parliament for publishing this contribution. I hope it adds to the growing conversation about how we strengthen innovation, productivity and long-term economic resilience in the UK.
