The NEF has recently launched an Innovation Charter. Organisations that share NEF’s values in four core areas - highlighted below - are encouraged to sign the Innovation Charter, which provides them with the foundation for driving innovation.
The four core areas are:
Leadership –successful organisations require innovation leadership in order to remain both agile and competitive thereby sustaining their success. They need leaders who can operate in unpredictable circumstances, inspire others and provide valuable insight.
People - successful organisations require people who have the ability to provide insight and ingenuity to current, emerging and horizon issues to invigorate the market. This will enable the generation and exploitation of opportunities.
Resources – successful organisations require an investment strategy which maintains its assets and capabilities. In order to sustain their competitive edge, they need to ensure that they exploit their capabilities to full potential, remaining distinctive and protected.
Culture – successful organisations require an organisational culture which allows them to capitalise on the ingenuity and critical thinking invested. They need to foster creativity which will incentivise individuals to share ideas enabling problem solving by improvisation.
